About the Album

Prokofiev Re-Imagined began not as a grand concept, but as a decades-long musical relationship between violinist Steven Copes and pianist-composer Stephen Prutsman. Together with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, they bring new dimension to Sergei Prokofiev's sonatas through orchestrations that remain completely faithful to the original scores while illuminating the colors and textures already embedded within the music. The result expands the SPCO's Prokofiev repertoire while showcasing the ensemble's extraordinary player-led artistry, with Copes serving as both artistic leader and featured soloist. Not rewritten. Re-imagined.
